We would be delighted to host you for a visit to the American College of Sofia. Our students and counselors look forward to meeting you and learning more about your academic programs.
Recommended Visit TimesWe recommend that you visit in the fall, although we can also accommodate visits in the winter or spring. Our school year starts in the middle of September, so please do not plan to visit any earlier than the last week of September. We have found October and November to be the most successful months for college visits. Please try to schedule your visit at least two weeks in advance so that we can advertise to our students. You may also find it useful to check our school calendar for school closures and Bulgarian National holidays. Our students are not allowed to miss class for college visits; therefore, we can accommodate your visit at two points in the day:
For a lunchtime visit, you may select the visit format that works best for you, either a presentation in a meeting room or a browsing format where you would be positioned at a central area of campus (similar to a college fair). We have found that the browsing style works very well for schools that are trying to increase their visibility among our students while a presentation only works well for schools with an established presence among our students. Our counselors would be happy to help you decide on the best visit format for you. All after-school visits will be held in a presentation format. Some admission officers have also found it useful to hold interviews after school for prospective applicants.
Contacting UsTo arrange your visit to ACS, please contact Allison Davis, College Counseling Office Manager. The best method of contact is email: a.davis@acs.bg. We can provide information about local hotels and restaurants as well as other schools in the area, which may help with your travel planning.
We encourage you to review our school profile before your visit and let us know if you have any questions about our school community or curriculum.
Arriving on CampusThe American College of Sofia is located in the Mladost 2 neighborhood of Sofia, which is just off of Alexander Malinov Blvd. We are about 4 km from the airport and 10 km from downtown Sofia. Please note: due to heavy traffic, travel time from downtown Sofia can often take at least 30 minutes or even up to an hour. In fact, if you are planning on a short visit to Sofia, we recommend that you stay closer to the school and airport. Taxis are generally the easiest way for visitors to travel around Sofia, and your hotel can help you call a reliable taxi. We share our grounds and front gate with the Ministry of Interior (MVR) training camp. As such, your taxi will not be able to bring you onto campus; instead it will stop at the front gate. The gate guards will have your name and will know to admit you to campus. You may need to show identification, so please have an I.D. card or driver’s license with you. Once on campus, simply proceed straight up the road to our Reception Office, which is located in the first ACS building that you will encounter, called Building 5 or the Math Building (on the right side of the street, after the sports bubble). The receptionist is located in the first office inside that building and she will be happy to help you meet up with us.
We look forward to hosting you at ACS and making your visit to Sofia a memorable one.
