Donations are and always have been an essential part of ACS's finances. They are used to fund scholarships, faculty development, and capital improvements to the College. Donations of all kinds and all amounts are welcome. USAID and some foundations consider the number of individual donors a school has in deciding which schools deserve grants. While ACS does reveal the names of individual donors, it does not reveal the amounts of such donations except those of $5,000 or more which must reported to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. In the United States, donations, in any currency, may be made through Sofia American Schools, Inc., a non-profit corporation which operates the College and is based in the United States. Such donations are not taxed and are deductible for income tax purposes for taxpayers who itemize deductions. The U.S. Tax Identification Number of Sofia American Schools, Inc. (usually required by corporations making matching gifts) is 13-6400773. Checks should be made payable to Sofia American Schools, Inc., and sent to:Sofia American Schools, Inc. Attn: T. GroverP.O.
