ACS Joins Giving Tuesday 2023

Help ACS support deserving students!

For a fourth consecutive year the American College of Sofia joins Giving Tuesday, the global philanthropic movement for giving in support of important causes. Our cause is to enable bright and talented children from diverse financial backgrounds to receive an affordable high school education. The goal of this year’s ACS Giving Tuesday is to raise sufficient funds to fully support the tuition of two students.

Currently, 265 current ACS students benefit from need-based financial aid. With the entrance exam approaching fast on March 24, more students will require support to remove all financial barriers so that they might participate in the ACS experience.

Additionally, this year we announce that for each donation of at least $200 by individual alumni to the Abbott Giving Circle, a dear friend, supporter, and trustee of ACS will match each donation, up to $10,000.

Find out what our alumni, parents, and faculty shared on the occasion and please, join us by making a gift.

ACS alumna of the Class of 2022 Nikol Petrova is currently a second-year student at the Medical University of Pleven, Bulgaria. At ACS, Nikol was the recipient of the Polansky Scholarship. Here is what she is thankful to ACS for:

Vanya Kashlakeva is a parent of an ACS student, recipient of the Polanski Scholarship. Vanya’s heartfelt message tells the story of her gratitude to ACS for the opportunity this scholarship is:
“This is an opportunity that other schools do not offer. And it's a tremendous value to be able to have every single student who has the opportunity, in terms of academic achievement and in terms of skills, to go to ACS.”
Liza Escott is an English Language and Literature Teacher at ACS. She joined the community earlier this fall. Her impact in creating a supportive and nurturing learning environment for students and fellow teachers alike in just a short time has been substantial.
“As a mother and as an educator, I always felt that it is important to give back to my local community wherever I am. So when I am doing that here at ACS, I think about all the opportunities that students are offered. With your help and support, more students who are deserving of this opportunity will be able to attend this fine institution.”
