The American College of Sofia Awarded with a Check for 10,000 BGN by Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov for Medalists from International Olympiads

At an official ceremony held at the cabinet’s premises the Prime Minister pointed out that “children are the future of Bulgaria and the government invests in their development in order for our country to move forward.”

Mr. Borisov and Minister of Education, Youth, and Science, Mr. Sergey Ignatov, awarded students with medals from international competitions and Olympiads. Eleven schools with two or more medals won in the period July 1, 2011 – September 1, 2011 received 10,000 BGN each from the government. The American College of Sofia was the only private school among the awarded ones.

 

The students whose merits brought this check to the College in the first place are:

- Kubrat Danailov of the Class of 2011 for his bronze medal at the International Math Olympiad held in July, 2011 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands

- Todor Manev of the Class of 2014 for his bronze medal at the International Science Olympiad held in April 2012 in Vilnius, Lithuania

- Veselin Karadzhov of the Class of 2012 for his gold medal at the International Physics Olympiad held in July in Tallinn, Estonia
