Celebrating the ACS Student Activity Fund 2025-2026
December 19, 2025 -- We all have great ideas, but the best part is seeing those ideas actually happen. That’s exactly what the Student Activities Fund (SAF) helps our students do.
For ten years now, SAF has been the biggest supporter of student-led projects at ACS, turning bright thoughts into real projects that help our school and the wider community.
The story of the Student Activity Fund (SAF) began back in 2014, started by dedicated alumni and parents. They saw the potential in our students and wanted to provide the means for them to act on their passions.
The mission is simple: to help students lead. SAF provides two important things:
1. Money: Up to 650 leva to cover project costs.
2. Mentoring: Guidance and support to teach students how to plan and run their projects successfully.
This fund is really about encouraging students to step outside the classroom, explore their interests, and connect with a strong community of parents, alumni, and teachers who are all cheering them on.
The Big Pitch Day
Our students showcased their ideas in a live-pitch session. We saw a huge variety of projects, from science and technology to arts and community service.
It was a tough challenge! Each team had only 5 minutes to present and then 3 minutes to answer questions. But the teams were excellent. They delivered their messages clearly and proved they understood exactly what they were talking about. These are skills they’ll use forever, and we are very proud!
The Projects We’ll See This Year
After careful review by the SAF committee (a dedicated group of parents and alumni-mentors), the new class of projects has been selected. These initiatives will make the next year vibrant and exciting.
Here are the selected projects that will soon be coming to life:
Arts & Music: Get ready for more tunes with the ACS Rock Band Club and Music Jam, along with the artistic expression of The Fountain Literary Journal and the cultural rhythm of the Folk Dancing Club Development.
Academics & Debate: Students will shine at the Debate Club Scholarships for International Competitions, the ACS Open Philosophy Conference, the established FISSION International Science Fair, and the technical challenge of the Robotics Competition.
Community & Leadership: These projects focus on helping others: the Library Helpers: Spirit and Community Events, the sixth edition of the Model United Nations Conference, the collaboration of Together We Create, and the ambitious TEDx@ACSofia2026.
New Tech: Innovation is alive with the ACS Ignite Hackathon.
A big thank you to every student who presented, to the faculty sponsors who guide them, and to the jury who volunteered their time. We are looking forward to watching these student visions grow and impact the whole ACS community!
