National Physics Success for ACS
March 19, 2026 --- The American College of Sofia is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our students at the 2026 Spring National Physics Competition. Held from March 6 to 8 in Sofia, this prestigious event brought together over 450 of the most talented young physicists from across Bulgaria. In an environment of intense intellectual challenge, our students demonstrated the rigor of their preparation and the depth of their curiosity.
Our ACS representatives rose to the occasion, competing against the country’s top scientific minds. We would like to extend special recognition to the following award winners:
Yordan Petkov (Grade 10) – Earned an Honorable 3rd Place at the National level.
Philip Arnaudov (Grade 10) – Secured 3rd Place in his age group, marking an exceptional debut in national competition.
Dimitar Yovchev (Grade 11) – Awarded a Third Prize for his sophisticated problem-solving.
A highlight of this year’s participation was the courage of our 10th-grade students.
Many elected to take on the Special Topic, a category designed to test competitors with creative, open-ended problems at a university level. By stepping beyond the standard curriculum, these students showcased the independent thinking and academic courage that define the ACS spirit.
We congratulate the entire ACS team for their dedication and sportsmanship throughout the weekend:
Grade 11: Dimitar Yovchev, Simeon Tsanovski, Stefan Rashev
Grade 10: Victor Ianakiev, Thomas Nastev, Yordan Petkov, Mina Nedeva, Vasilena Naneva, Philip Arnaudov
Grade 8: Simeon Truykov, Karina Manolova, Ivan Dostumski
The success of our students is a testament to their hard work, enthusiasm, and the unwavering support of their teachers. Their achievements not only bring pride to our community but also reinforce the College's commitment to STEM excellence. We look forward to seeing where their curiosity takes them next.
