The Garden of Human Potential: Highlights from the Latest ACS Giving Report
December 1, 2025 -- Creativity and education expert Sir Ken Robinson famously argued that schools shouldn’t be factories, but gardens where individual talents are cultivated. The American College of Sofia’s 2024 - 2025 Giving Report reveals a community dedicated to this vision - providing the soil and sunlight for students to thrive.
This year, the ACS community raised over two million BGN, supporting 268 students with tuition reductions and 29 with full scholarships. But beyond the numbers lies a deeper philosophy.
As Emily Sargent Beasley, President of ACS, writes: “Every act of giving begins with a choice... an expression of wisdom that finds its fullest meaning in service to others.”
This wisdom transforms lives. One student describes the scholarship as a vital lifeline:
“It gave me much needed support when my family was struggling financially and was my motivation to keep working hard on myself and my studies!”
Another reflects on the mindset the college fosters:
“ACS was a transformative experience for me... It taught me that you can do everything if you just try and keep learning along the way.”
Theodora Konetsovska '97, Chair of the Board, reminds us of the long-term impact of giving: “Education remains the most effective, egalitarian tool to influence the world long after we are gone.”
Investing in education is an act of faith in the future. Education works best when we create the right conditions for students to grow. This giving report shows how the support of our donors enriches the soil that helps our students flourish as happy and fulfilled individuals.
