InspireMED: When Students Turn Ambitious Ideas into Reality

October 29, 2026 --- More than 1,000 participants from 140 schools and institutions across more than 40 cities in Bulgaria gathered at the American College of Sofia on October 17 for InspireMED, a student-led initiative exploring opportunities in medicine, science, and research.

Conceived by Alexandra Hadzhiivanova (Grade 11), Dara Arishtieva (Grade 12), and a team of ACS students, the initiative developed over more than a year into one of the largest events in the College’s history.

Across three sessions, distinguished doctors, scientists, researchers, university faculty members, and students shared their experience and helped young participants explore new possibilities for their futures. The exceptional interest led to the program being livestreamed simultaneously in five rooms across campus, all filled until the end of the event.

We are immensely proud of our students’ initiative, ambition, and dedication! We are grateful to the teachers, school leadership, administration, and partners whose support helped turn their vision into reality.

At the American College of Sofia, we believe that when young people are trusted, supported, and given the opportunity to take action, they can achieve extraordinary things - and create opportunities for others.
