The American College of Sofia posts a job opening for Bulgarian Drama Club Director (School year 2025-2026)

I. Position Objectives
The Bulgarian Drama Club Director will have a real opportunity to make an impact by engaging and inspiring ACS students in theatrical arts. We are looking for a passionate theatre educator who can approach creative challenges with innovation and knows how to use their excellent interpersonal skills to advance the artistic mission and cultural work of the American College of Sofia. The candidate must be fluent in Bulgarian and in English, and confident in directing, teaching, and leading theatrical productions.

         

II. Required Competencies

• Demonstrates high-level interpersonal skills including ability to build relationships with students, faculty, and parents; 
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Bulgarian; 
• Ability to identify creative challenges and seek innovative artistic solutions; 
• Proactive and results-oriented in theatrical production; 
• Loves teamwork but can also work efficiently with individual students;
• Lifelong learner focused on theatrical arts and cultural education 
• Excellent knowledge of Bulgarian drama, theatre history, and performance techniques

III. Preferred Competencies 

• Degree in Theatre Arts, Drama Education, Bulgarian Literature, or other relevant field
• Experience directing theatrical productions
• Experience working with high school students in educational or artistic settings
• Experience with stage design, lighting, sound, and other technical theatre elements is an advantage
