ACS Debaters with an Award from a National Debate Tournament - Again

Students from the ACS Debate Club participated in the February National Tournament of The Bulgarian Forensics League (BFL) that was held at the “Hristo Botev” Foreign Language High School in Kardzhali from Feb. 15-16, 2014. Approximately 150 participants from 17 different high schools across Bulgaria participated.

Iva Saramova 10/2, Mihail Georgiev 10/7 and Veselin Nanov 10/2 ranked first in Varsity Karl Popper Debate. Mihail and Veselin repeated their successful performance from the first national BFL tournament for the current school year that was held in Sofia in December, 2013. Our second team, Svetoslav Kostov 12/5, Evgeni Marchev 9/7, and Stoyan Trenchev 10/1, while not placing in the tournament, was very supportive in preparing the other team as they advanced to the semifinal and final rounds.

ACS faculty members Michael Deegan and Hanna Allen were among the organizers of the tournament, while Samantha O’Hara, Amanda Young, and Adam Saligman volunteered as judges.

Great job, ACS debaters!
