Day of Silence at ACS

Today, April 20, 364 ACS students, teachers, and members of the school administration participate in the Day of Silence. Initiated by the  Embrace Club,  the event is a  significant step towards accepting ourselves and others here at ACS.

On this day, individuals in schools around the world will be participating in a global Day of Silence to support individuals who are unable to freely express their beliefs, sexual orientation, or important aspects of their individual identity on a daily basis. At ACS, the participants will join by either pledging a vow of silence for the full school day or demonstrating emotional support for the movement by wearing a supporter badge. At lunch time, all participants will take part in a collaborative silent art project, and will be invited to a ceremonial “breaking the silence” event at the end of the day.
