Fortissimo in Class

What does a French Horn sound like? What is its origin? ACS 8th- and 9th-graders already know the answers to those questions thanks to  French Horn  player Krasimir Kostadinov and his presentation of the instrument within the Fortissimo in Class program.

Krasimir Kostadinov leads the  French Horn players in the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra. He was guest musician in music classes at ACS between March 12 and March 16. Fortissimo in Class came to our school on January 16. During music classes, College students have the chance to meet professional musicians and at the same time learn about certain instruments, their structure, and various playing techniques. Naturally, students get to know more about the guest musician, as well.

Harry Eshkenazy, violinist in the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra is Project Manager of the Fortissimo in Class Program in Bulgaria, while the original idea behind it belongs to his brother – the well-known conductor Maxim Eshkenazy.

Before they were introduced to the French Horn, our students had the chance to learn about violin, flute, and trumpet. Next up are percussions.

You can read an article about the program and the guest musicians, as well as opinions of our students and a brief interview with Harry Eshkenazy in the next issue of the ACS Newsletter at the end of March.
