ACS Students with Prizes from the 2015 Science and Engineering Fair in Vienna

On March 14 the two winning ACS Science Fair projects competed in the categories "Health and Human Behavior" and "Engineering and Technology" at the 2015 Science and Engineering Fair in Vienna.

We are proud to announce that both projects ranked first in their categories: congratulations to Tsveta Kamenova, Mihail Georgiev, and Marieta Karastoyanova on their “Sun Protection Efficacy” project and to Nikita Ovsyannikov, Venezia Georgieva, and Boris Zyumbyulev on “The Maze Robot” project. Furthermore, “The Maze Robot” won the Best Overall Senior Project award!

For another year in a row the event was organized by the Vienna Chapter of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) with the aim to promote Science and Engineering subjects in schools and encourage the younger generation to pursue careers in different scientific and engineering fields. The fair attracted participants from international schools from Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Bulgaria (represented by ACS). The number of projects this year was 101, made and presented by competitors in two categories – Junior and Senior. The jury panel was composed of acknowledged scientists.  The judging process took place throughout the whole day with each project being assessed by at least three judges. Our students were interviewed by up to seven different jury members. Finally, both ACS projects received Golden Ribbons of Superior Rating in their categories.
